Description

This course will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience and obtain an QCF level 3 qualification, assessments are continuous throughout the years, you will negotiate with your assessor to produce a portfolio containing evidence of practical and theoretical work.

What will you learn
  • VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing

    This course has been designed to provide learners with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a hairdresser. The apprentice will work closely with their trained assessor to learn and develop their skills to shampoo hair, blow dry hair, cut hair, colour hair, perm hair and advise and consult with cients. They will also learn to promote retail sales and communicate with colleagues/ customers in the right manner.

  • Highfield Functional Skills Qualification in English at Level 1

    This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop their skills in English to help them gain the most from work, education and everyday life.

  • Highfield Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 1

    This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop their skills in mathematics to help from work, education and everyday life.


Duration: 24 Months

Course Units

Through this unit you will develop the skill of blow drying, finger drying and finishing techniques on a variety of hair types and lengths. Being able to identify the capability of your clients hair will allow you to choose from a range of products, tools and equipment to complete the look. You will need to demonstrate the ability to use heated styling equipment to finish the service. Part of this service is to provide your client with good aftercare advice.
This unit is about gaining the knowledge and skills to prepare for and provide a professional and commercial finished service. Learners will use a range of setting and dressing techniques to achieve a variety of different looks. Learners will have the ability to work with a wide range of products and tools, with a high degree of manual dexterity
The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to create a variety of basic looks using club cutting, freehand, texturising and scissor over comb techniques. You are required to use these techniques to produce uniform layers, short and long graduations and one length cuts. Throughout this unit you will need to maintain a high level of health, safety and hygiene throughout your work. You will also need to maintain a professional personal appearance and demonstrate effective communication skills.
The aim of this unit is to develop your skills to change hair colour using semi-permanent, quasi-permanent, permanent and lightening products. The use of a variety of colouring techniques such as full head, regrowth and highlighting and/or low-lighting effects provide the basis for all hair services at level 2. You must develop the ability to take into account a variety of factors and contra-indications that your
client may present with. Part of this service is to provide your client with good aftercare advice.
This unit is about understanding the principles of professional consultation for hairdressing and barbering services. Learners will develop the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and carry out consultations, establishing a good standard of client care. Learners will develop their understanding of the necessary communication skills and know how to identify and communicate realistic and appropriate service objectives. Learners will know the science of hair, skin and scalp and how these impact on follow - on hairdressing and barbering services.
